Riley the Puppy
My name is Riley and I try to play with cats, but they keep swatting me. I do my bunny hop around them to make them laugh, but they just make strange noises at me. Oh well, maybe one day they will play with me. I do like playing with my human family. I especially like going to the bus stop in the morning and seeing all of the kids there. Then they all leave and my Mom and me play in the yard for a while. We kick the ball around and I chew on sticks or rocks. Mom usually makes me spit out the bottle caps and rocks…she’s no fun…but I occasionally sneak some of those things in when she’s not looking. My big brothers are playing something they call baseball. I get to go to the fields and watch the games, but they don’t let me play. But lots of people come over and play with me anyway. It must be because I’m so cute!! I took puppy classes and was the youngest in my class. I learned my name, how to sit on command, and to lay down and stay. I haven’t figured out that last one, yet but I’m trying. Anyway, that’s my life for now. I’m kind of tired now and am going to take a nap. I’m really good at that.
Henry & Jess
Henry & Jess are labrador mixes. Henry is a very handsome fellow but can be a bit Scooby Doo-like. He loves any kind of dog treat, especially the meaty ones and finds the laundry basket frightening. Henry loves to chase squizzles (squirrels) and panicked because he almost caught one. On the other hand, he has a bark which scares any would-be solicitor miles away.
My Jess is sweet and is his big sister. She loves everyone and doesn’t bark at all - except at her brother, Henry when he won’t play. My little daughters climb on her, poke her and generally abuse her in many ways and she just smiles. Just today, my daughter was pulling on her eyelides and her nose and she didn’t move - she’s such a love.
Shiloh
Hi, I’m Shiloh and a bit of a wild child. I originally lived with 15 chihuahuas - it was very noisy in my old house - but now I live with a lovely family which includes three cats. I like to play with them but they don’t always like to play with me.
Once, when I was all by myself at home, I was trying to find my family so I jumped through a closed, glass window to see if they were outside. It didn’t hurt much but I don’t think I’ll do it again. I also used to chew my way out of my metal crate and I love when I find some yummy steak defrosting on the kitchen counter! I also LOVE to run and chase tennis balls, swim in the lake, and my belly rubbed!
Lily (left) & Boo Boo (right)
Hi! My name is Lily, I am a 6 year old black lab that was rescued from the pound by a nice man who thought
I was too “adoptable” to meet my maker at the pound one day. He sent me to an animal shelter, where I spent a week ,until my family took me home in February of 2003. I love to lay in the sun like a cat, and chase and catch various rodents that dare to frolick in our backyard. Much to my family’s dismay, I am not fond of swimming, even though I am a hunting dog. Hey, I’m unique! I also enjoy sleeping on beds, preferably with my head on a pillow. People who meet me say that I “went from the outhouse to the White House”, because I am such a lucky girl. I can’t complain! -Lily
Hello! My name is Boo-Boo. I am a 5 year old Cheapeake Bay Retriever and I live with Lily and our family. I use to live with nice man who moved to a smaller place, and needed to find a good home for me. He sure found one. I love the water, and especially enjoy biting the hose stream whenever anyone sprays water at home. I can hold my own catching squirrels and chipmunks too.
I love little kids, which is good, because my Mom has an in-home daycare. I always keep them safe when the UPS man thinks he’s going to deliver a package, or that silly trash truck cruises by our house. All in all, I am one happy girl, and I love my sister, Lily, and she loves me too. -Boo-Boo
